Every take, matched to its line
Whisper transcribes your recordings and matches them to your script. Pick the keepers, spot improv and bloopers, and export the edit as WAV and SRT.
Build the finished audio
Your kept takes on a track per voice, with sound effects and ambience. Fades, volume and pan over time, then export the mix, or a timeline to go on in your video editor.
Subtitles from the words you said
Fine-tune them on the finished mix, style them, and export SRT or an MP4 with the subtitles burned in over your picture.
Vertical shorts with captions

New in
Before you install
- Your recordings stay on your computer. Transcribing runs locally; nothing is uploaded.
- Whisper is downloaded the first time you transcribe (about 3 GB for the most accurate model; Settings has smaller ones).
- An NVIDIA graphics card makes it much faster. The installer offers GPU support when it finds one (another 1.3 GB download). Without one it runs on the processor, more slowly.
- Your browser may block the download as "suspicious", because MercScribe is new and not many people have downloaded it yet. It's safe: in Chrome, click the download (Ctrl+J) and choose Download suspicious file. In Edge, choose … → Keep → Show more → Keep anyway.
- Windows may warn about the installer for the same reason: click More info → Run anyway.
- Updating: download and run the new installer. It updates MercScribe where it is and keeps your settings. MercScribe tells you in its top bar when there's a new version.
